The U.S. capital is a dynamic destination that manages to be “big city” and “small town” at the same time—it’s daring, edgy and cool on the outside, with serious substance within. D.C. offers a wealth of museums and cultural attractions, as well as plenty of green space and the Potomac River. It will please every traveler, from history buffs to nature lovers.

Designing Your Journey
Work with Indagare to design the perfect itinerary for an immersive journey. Our travel experts know the destination inside and out, and they can make recommendations based on your travel needs and preferences.
3 Days in Washington DC
Experience special access to the country’s most important historic sites, touring with curators and exclusive reservations. Here’s just one example of what our destination experts can create for you.
Day 1: The Mall
Spend your first day in DC exploring the museums and historic attractions with one of Indagare’s favorite expert guides, including the National Archives, the Smithsonian Institution and the amazing Newseum. This is a cultural capital meant for walking, taking in the sights, learning about the history and the future of our nation, seeing our government branches in action, admiring monuments, paying respects at memorials and spending hours in enthralling museums.
Day 2: Arts & Culture
Art aficionados can easily spend a full day touring DC’s best art museums and attending cultural performances. While the expansive National Gallery of Art and Hirshhorn Museum of Contemporary Art are must-visit museums, don’t miss the more intimate Renwick Gallery and the Phillips Collection, which houses the works of masters like Rothko and Renoir. Afterwards, enjoy a play or performance at one of DC’s many cultural venues, such as the grand Kennedy Center.
Day 3: Georgetown
Georgetown is a charming neighborhood in DC, with brick-lined streets, lovely townhouses and many fun shops and restaurants. Spend the day walking the central M Street and Wisconsin Avenue and peruse the array of stores, stopping for lunch at one of Indagare’s favorite cafes. Afterwards, head to the buzzing waterfront. History buffs will also want to tour the Dumbarton Oaks estate, the Georgetown University campus or George Washington’s Mount Vernon, overlooking the Potomac.
Where To Stay
We only feature hotels that we can vouch for first-hand. At many of them, Indagare members receive special amenities, including upgrades, early check-in, breakfast, spa credits and more. Look for the Indagare Plus logo in the reviews.
