Vini Da Arturo

Vini Da Arturo, Calle dei Assassini, Venice, Metropolitan City of Venice, Italy

Seafood is king in Venice, but at Vini Da Arturo, it is all about the pasta and meat. At this lively, intimate, no fuss Venetian trattoria—that only has ten tables—the schnitzel is the star, as are the pastas, like the pasta radicchio and the artichoke pasta, which are cooked with love over many hours on the stove. The restaurant is remarkable for many reasons (not the least of which is the lack of seafood anywhere on the menu). It has been run by a three person staff—Ernesto Ballarin, chef Coretti Alessio and waiter, Beniamin Hani—for nearly 40 years, and they are quick to tell you about the celebrities who have dined here over the years; it is a point of pride, but it doesn’t feel like a brag. It just leaves you more intrigued, wondering how it took so long to find the restaurant. They make everyone who walks through doors feel like family, and it is clear why many regulars call Vini Da Arturo home. I am always seeking restaurants I’ll want to return to every time I visit a city. In Venice, I didn’t find it until dining at Vini Da Arturo.
