The Grand Canal–facing terrace of The Venice Venice Hotel, opened in 2022, is one of the best places in the city for soaking in the view and cool people watching. It’s an all-day affair, starting with breakfast, lunch and moving into cocktails when this spot becomes busy, especially with culture aficionados. Located in the Grand Canal’s oldest palazzo, the 44-room hotel is a labor of love project from husband-and-wife team Alessandro Gallo and Francesca Rinaldo (founders of fashion brand Golden Goose), and each room was given over to a different designer. The vibe throughout is hip, young and fun - not always a given in this city. For anyone interested in contemporary art and design, as well as tapping into Venice’s current it-scene, a light meal or drink here is a must.

First Look: Venice’s Violino d’Oro
