A bacaro and an osteria with a Japanese slant, Koenji belongs to a new generation of restaurants eager to shake up Venice’s traditional and, at times, static dining scene. All the dishes of the Japanese-Italian fusion menu are lovingly explained in Italian and English, and there are options for vegan and vegetarians (also not always a given in this city). Come hungry and with friends or family (the dishes are great for sharing). Also, be sure to reserve - Koenji’s small dining room is usually booked out.

First Look: Venice’s Violino d’Oro
