Review

Set on 30-acres of land in a remote area of Antiparos, it is clear upon stepping into The Rooster that each aspect of the hotel’s design was intentional and handpicked by owner Athanasia Comninos. To add to the draw of the location, The Rooster is known for having the best sunset on the island, in part due to its proximity Livadia Beach, a protected beach just in front of the hotel that is great for swimmers, surfers and sunbathers.

The 16 “rooms” are more like private houses that are well-spaced throughout the grounds. Done up in calming, neutral tones with pops of burnt colors, each room has an outdoor shower, a small private pool, a patio and Aegean sea views. We recommend the accommodations closer to the beach, which are further from the lobby and close enough to the water to hear the waves. Couples should check out the “Love Shack,” which won the National Geographic award for best honeymoon room.

For breakfast, lunch and dinner, the farm-to-table restaurant is a go-to. The food is light and delicious, and the menu has a variety of options. Cocktails and healthy juices are also served at the bar, which is a great spot to sit back and relax on the couches, especially at sunset. Guests can spend their days taking advantage of the offerings at The House of Healing (including yoga classes and sound bath sessions), spending time with their partner at the “Cuddle Puddle” teepee set up on the beach, swimming or surfing at Livadia Beach or simply relaxing at the room’s private pool. Though it may be tempting never to leave the resort, the town of Antiparos also offers a strip of unpretentious boutique shops, cafes and restaurants—we recommend enjoying a local meal at Kalokéri restaurant.

Who Should Stay

Wellness focused couples, friends and solo travelers seeking privacy, wellness and a reconnection with nature

Getting There

Travelers must first travel to the island of Paros by ferry or flight. From here they are picked up in a luxury vehicle that drives directly onto the ferry to Antiparos (about seven minutes) and delivers them to the resort on the other end (10-minute drive).
