Tbilisi Sulfur Baths

995 32 272 20 90

According to legend, Tbilisi (which means “warm place” in Georgian) was founded when King Vakhtang Gorgasali was so struck by the hot springs on the site he decided a new city should be built there. In the 13th century, there may have been up to 68 baths in Tbilisi. Now there are six or seven from the 17th century still in use. Make sure to follow your guide’s advice on how to try the sulfur bath rituals.
