This contemporary and whimsical work of art is by Rezo Gabriadze, a master puppeteer and writer of marionette performances that touch on serious themes of society under Soviet rule. Built from abandoned fragments and rubble of the old city, Gabriadze’s clock tower strikes every hour, at which time figurines can be seen enacting the circle of life, starting with boy meets girl, marriage, childbirth and concluding grimly with a funeral scene.
