House of Blue Laces

House of Blue Laces is a one-of-a-kind, two-story Rustaveli Avenue mansion with a traditional wood-carved, lace-like balcony. It was designed by Korneli Tatishchev, who also designed the Rustaveli State Theater. During Soviet rule, most mansions were divided into smaller parts; but a member of the family, Nikoloz Kipshidze, was Stalin’s personal doctor, and was granted special permission to keep the house as a whole. Today the property is still in the family, occupied by museum curator Nino Kipshidze and her husband, renowned artist Dato Sulakauri.
