Anchiskhati Basilica

Dating back to the 6th century, the Anchiskhati Basilica is the oldest surviving church in Tbilisi. Its name means “Icon of Anchi,” because the church originally contained an icon of Christ made by a 12th-century goldsmith. In the 17th century, the icon was moved to protect it from the invading Ottomans and can now be seen at the Georgian Art Museum.
