On the grounds of the Tsinandali Estate, a Radisson Collection Hotel, the Alexander Chavchavadze Museum pays tribute to the 19th century aristocrat and poet whose family mansion was transformed into a museum in his honor. Chavchavadze served in the Imperial Russian army in the 1800s (when he wasn’t fighting Russia for Georgian independence). His estate was a center for intellectual life during his time, and it is where he and his father founded the first modern winery in Georgia. To this day, it produces the dry white Tsinandali wine for which they became famous. To end the visit, travelers will try the dry white in their wine tasting room.
