Review

When the Raffles Makati opened its doors in 2012, it was instantly the city’s best hotel by virtue of being the newest. Today, it remains one of the best properties in Manila, largely thanks to its size and location.

With just 32 suites, the Raffles feels like a boutique gem even though it is part of a large, international chain. Accommodations are designed in the timeless elegance of the flagship hotel in Singapore, with hardwood floors, leather furniture and dark-wood accents. The all-marble bathrooms are perhaps the most luxurious in the city. There is a lovely outdoor pool, a 13,000-sq.-ft. spa and a fitness center. Six dining facilities are shared with the Fairmont (its sister property next door), and the breakfast buffet offers a robust selection of international dishes, including a sampling of Filipino delicacies.

Perhaps more important than its level of luxury is Raffles’ location. No other hotel in Manila is within easy walking distance of must-visit sites, including the Ayala Museum across the street, the artisan shops at Greenbelt 5 (1228 Legazpi Street) or the weekend market nearby.

Who Should Stay

Travelers looking to experience Manila will appreciate the hotel’s proximity to top sites in addition to its luxurious accommodations.
