Pinto Art Museum

1 Sierra Madre St. Grand Heights Rd Antipolo, Rizal

This offbeat contemporary art museum is out of the way (roughly an hour by car from Makati) but well worth the trip for aficionados. Set in the hills outside of Manila, Pinto (meaning ‘door’ in Tagalog) is a passion project of a wealthy art collector who decided to open his private home—a compound of white, open-air stucco buildings and lush gardens—to the public. The galleries feature an impressive array of art, including massive murals, mixed-media installations and outdoor sculptures. The photogenic setting makes it a popular wedding venue, and there is even a small chapel on the grounds. Factor at least half a day, including travel time, for a visit here.
