Quiet but powerful, crumbling yet proud, Venice continues to cast a captivating spell. The moment your water taxi turns into the Grand Canal and the faded, pastel-colored palazzi rise from the lagoon like pillars of another era is always breathtaking, whether it’s your first or 15th visit to Italy’s fabled city.

3 Days: Essential Venice
Experience the historic sites in the central square and authentic glimpses of Venetian life across the various islands of the lagoon. Here is just one example of what our destination experts can create for you.
Day 1: Historic Center & Canals
Upon arrival in Venice, take in all the sites surrounding the Piazza San Marco, including the Basilica, Clock Tower and Doge’s Palace. After an al fresco lunch and obligatory gelato, spend the afternoon floating on the city’s famous canals with a gondola tour, and Indagare can arrange a private Venetian rowing lesson. End the night on the terrace of a restaurant with stunning views of the city and water.
Day 2: Dorsoduro & Tour Options
Begin your day in the bustling Dorsoduro neighborhood with stops at fantastic museums including the Gallerie dell’Accademia and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. Afternoon options include a tour of the centuries-old Rialto Market or a trip to the island of Giudecca to visit the church and clock tower before savoring drinks at one of the city’s grand hotels.
Day 3: San Polo, Santa Croce & Tour Options
Stroll through the districts of San Polo and Santa Croce to see exquisite art and architecture, as well as the wonderful costumes and textiles collection of Palazzo Mocenigo. Indagare can also arrange private visits to glassblowers’ studios on the island of Murano, as well as to the island of Burano, which is known for its colorful houses. Travelers can also make their way to the beach at the Lido, Venice’s historic seaside resort, and rent bikes.
Where To Stay
We only feature hotels that we can vouch for first-hand. At many of them, Indagare members receive special amenities, including upgrades, early check-in, breakfast, spa credits and more. Look for the Indagare Plus logo in the reviews.
