Overlooking the Savoy Hotel’s iconic entrance, Restaurant 1890 is a glamorous, Art Deco-inspired space with just ten tables. The French tasting menu draws inspiration from 19th century chef and restaurateur, Georges Auguste Escoffier, who headed the kitchens at Hotel Savoy in the 1890s (hence the restaurant’s name), cooking for such influential people as opera singer Nellie Melba, whom he even named a dish after. Restaurant 1890 received its first Michelin star earlier this year which is no surprise—dining in this intimate, gold-hued space is unforgettably special. Restaurant 1890 is open for lunch on Friday and Saturday.
