Basic needs are met at this sprawling luxury property at water’s edge, but like most Tel Aviv hotels, special extras are lacking.
Review
At first, Tel Aviv seems to offer a huge choice of good hotels, mostly because so many stand tower to tower along the beach (there’s a reason it’s called the Miami of the Middle East). And yet, at the top of the market there are only a few options, most of which are interchangeable and from eras gone by. The Hilton is considered the best hotel on the beach, even though it’s been decades since it opened as the first five-star property in the city.
For direct beach access, the Hilton can’t be beat (some of its competitors are separated from the beach by a highway), but the size can be off-putting for some. Guests enter through one large, extremely long lobby, which can be confusing when tour buses are dropping off tourists after a day’s worth of activities. On the plus side, everything else about the Hilton is big too: the spa, the outdoor pool and the views from the upper-floor rooms. But gym-dwellers take note: the onsite exercise room is not owned by the Hilton, and a pricey daily fee applies.
Who Should Stay
Those looking to stay in what is considered one of Tel Aviv’s best hotels, and value a great beachfront location.
