Indagare Loves

  • Rooms in the old part of the hotel which have more charm
  • The old world El Coro (choir) bar in what was the original monastery’s choir room
  • The large family-friendly pool

Occupying the Santa Clara convent, which was built in the 17th century and inspired the setting for Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s book Of Love and Other Demons, the Sofitel Legend Hotel Santa Clara is the most luxurious large hotel in Cartagena. Its central courtyard and cloisters have been beautifully restored and the older wing of the property retains many historic architectural details. The rooms in the older wing have more of a sense of place, while the rooms in the newer wing are very modern, bordering on corporate. All of the 122 guestrooms are outfitted with amenities like mini-bars, safes, TVs with video games and Wi-Fi. The hotel offers a large pool area, a fitness center, an eight-treatment room spa, including a hammam and a number of small boutiques.  The hotel's signature restaurant, Restaurante 1621, is one of the best in all of Colombia and attracts a glamorous crowd.
