Review

The location of the Pierre, in a restored 1930s Georgian-style building on Central Park is unbeatable. The 189 rooms and suites are decorated in warm, inviting tones of soft aqua, muted pink, and mint green, and all of the bathrooms are outfitted in luxurious marble.

The imposing Grand Ballroom space has been meticulously restored and polished, as was the historic rotunda, with its trompe l’oeil ceiling and wall paintings. The cozy, club-style Two E lounge is dominated by a gilded bar manned by the hotel's expert mixologists and the candle-lit space has become a glamorous spot for a pre-dinner cocktail. The former Café Pierre reopened as Sirio, part of the famed Maccioni Group (of Le Cirque fame), and the chef developed the menu with the intention of creating a destination restaurant for visitors and locals alike.

Guests are still greeted by name and the elevators boast attendants to recall the days of old, but underneath the traditional New York grandeur is a sleek property with all the necessities for modern-day, busy travelers.

Who Should Stay

The many connecting rooms make the hotel a family-friendly base for those who would prefer to be located near Central Park and the Upper East Side.
