Approaching the twinkling lanterns of Nyasi at dusk after your evening game drive feels like a homecoming.
The mobile tented camp is open in four-month increments, and is dismantled and rebuilt piece by piece to follow the Great Migration. From July until November, Nyasi is in the northern Serengeti in Lamai, where thousands of wildebeest graze leading up to the iconic Mara River crossing en route to Kenya’s Maasai Mara. The Mara River crossing, a small moment in time during the larger migration pattern, is one of the best places to witness the migration, and Nyasi’s northern camp is in a prime location for increasing your chances of seeing hordes of wildlife make their way across its waters.
There is one family tent and eight double tents, and guests are assigned a butler, housekeeper and private guide and vehicle, ensuring the experience feels personal, high touch and private. The tents all provide modern comforts including a flushing toilet, hot shower, electricity and plush beds, though the canvas walls allow for optimal immersion in the wilderness. Meanwhile, shared entertainment tents are great for lounging between game drives, dining and enjoying the outdoor fire—though the interaction between guests at camp is often minimal.
With bright and welcoming smiles and thoughtful care, the staff at Nyasi quickly feels like family. Food is served family style, with produce arriving weekly from Arusha, and each dish is carefully prepared and delicious. The kitchen staff is passionate about their work and willing to give guests a tour of their mobile kitchen or share the recipe of a favorite dish.
