Review
Located within a canal-side house dating back to the 15th century, Hotel De Tuilerieën has a historic, traditional, charming atmosphere, providing a simple but comfortable home base from which to easily explore Bruges (it's just 50 meters from the famous Markt square). This four-star property has been a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World since 1998.
The 41 rooms and suites are all slightly unique, with comfortable beds, free Wifi, flat-screen televisions, air conditioning and a coffee machine. Rooms located in the back of the hotel have balconies overlooking the parking lot and some green space; front rooms offer beautiful canal views. The top suite category also includes a private terrace, while the family suite has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It is worth splurging for a higher category here, as the entry-level rooms can be small, with lower ceilings (giving the feeling of being in the attic). Travelers with accessibility needs should note that many of the rooms are located up staircases—so a ground-floor room should be requested.
Amenities and public spaces cover the essentials. A daily buffet breakfast is served in a pleasant, airy dining room, and breakfast can also be ordered to the room. A cozy drawing room contains a bar with armchairs and a fireplace, which is open from noon to midnight, for drinks, cards and communal lounging. There is also a small private parking lot, which should be reserved in advance, at an additional cost.
Indagare Tip
As the hotel occupies a historic building, the layout and location of the 41 rooms varies. Consult with your Trip Designer to make sure you are booking the best option for your preferences and requirements.
Who Should Not Stay
Travelers who wish to be located away from Bruges' touristy center, or in a property with a bit more style and flair—and a more modern atmosphere—will be happier at the Hotel Van Cleef.
