Review
Part modernist structures, part traditional cave dwellings, Ariana Sustainable Luxury Lodge marries a sustainable focus with intimate, friendly service and smart design. Of particular note are the traditional Cave Rooms, which are cut into the hillside rock, but offer modern comforts like espresso machines, wi-fi and round contemporary furniture.
The property itself was constructed using recycled materials and abiding by eco-friendly standards and energy-efficient practices. A third of the lodge’s energy is generated through solar panels, and a special system collects rain for reuse in irrigating the property’s private vineyard. Green technology is sourced throughout the lodge—the rooms have smart thermostats and there are timers for lighting and water systems to reduce waste and overall consumption across the property. Advanced coatings and paints also reduce heat, noise and prevent the erosion of natural rock walls.
The restaurant on property, Plum, has its own gardens and vineyard and serves impeccable farm-fresh Mediterranean fare in a dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the valley. For those interested, it’s possible to facilitate private events and activities such as yoga on the terrace and movie nights under the stars, making this property especially great for buy-outs, whether it’s a multi-generational trip, special anniversary or birthday celebration. It’s also a great base from which to explore the sights and attractions of Cappadoccia proper.
