Review
Set on fifteen acres of beachfront property, the Andaz Maui at Wailea is a true beach sanctuary and the most boutique, beachfront option in the Wailea community. Set farther up the beach from the main hub of the Wailea resorts, the Andaz Maui is considerably more private and quiet when compared to the nearby properties, giving it a swankier, more adult feel. You’re removed from the hustle and bustle of many of Wailea’s other visitors, while maintaining a prime location on a snorkel-able beach within walking distance of nearby shops and restaurants.
Many of the sleek, spacious and tranquil accommodations (there are 321 rooms and 35 suites) have balconies overlooking the Pacific. Chic and modern, the décor channels elements of native Maui and Hawaiian culture, and the property's 31 two and three bedroom villas are just steps from the warm sands of Mokapu Beach, where you can snorkel or scuba with sea turtles! Design conscious rooms feature white washed walls and tile floors with contemporary furnishings and black and white photography. There is a casual beach feel a la South Beach. The resort honors the beauty of its surroundings and was built with the environment in mind, earning LEED certification. Hip couples will enjoy the Andaz’s nooks and crannies and live music, both of which work together to create a decidedly chill but buzzy atmosphere. Those who appreciate design and a modern aesthetic will be pleased to find that even Hawaii can offer a chic resort stay.
A number of activities are available—guests may kayak, paddleboard, snorkel, take an island excursion or indulge in one of the rejuvenating treatments offered at the ‘Awili spa. There is also a fully equipped gym on site as well as daily fitness classes and multiple dining options all of which embrace the region’s freshest flavors, including the Iron Chef–helmed Morimoto Maui.
