Review

Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas occupies a rarified piece of property on Mahé: its own peninsula. The resort’s 30 villas begin on the white-sand beach and steadily extend up a hill, ending at a peak that offers views of two separate bays. (Our favorite are the Ocean Panoramic hilltop options for the privacy they ensure.)

The property’s primary goal is to deliver anything and everything that a guest could want, at any hour of the day or night. Each villa is assigned a butler and instead of traditional meal times, guests are encouraged to dine at their convenience, and order whatever they can think up. The menu is only there for suggestions.

The villas are colonial Seychellois in style, featuring peaked, thatched roofs, polished wooden details and upholstered wicker furniture and consist of two separate structures—a bedroom and a living room pavilion. Bathrooms boast huge showers, large-sized Hermes amenities and open onto the villa’s private outdoor bathtub and infinity-edge pool.

Other highlights of the property include the indoor-outdoor spa, where guests can enjoy fabulous Balinese-style massages, Tec-Tec restaurant and the communal pool complete with Sunset Pool Bar.

Who Should Stay

Couples will most appreciate the serenity and romantic nature of Anantara Maia. The property makes for a lovely one- or two-night stay en route to or from a private island resort in the Seychelles.
