19 Barbie Pink Hotels for a Glamorous Getaway—and What to Wear with Mytheresa

It's officially the summer of Pink—Barbie Pink, to be exact. The premiere of celebrated filmmaker Greta Gerwig's Barbie last Friday has quickly become one of this season's most culturally and economically impactful events. Starring Margot Robbie as the iconic doll, America Ferrera as her real-world counterpart, Will Ferrell as Mattel's delightfully delusional CEO and Ryan Gosling as...just Ken, the film generated 155 million dollars in sales over opening weekend alone—making it the highest-grossing opening weekend in history for a woman director, among other record statistics. In stores across the nation and online, a varied line of Barbie merchandise—including neon vinyl records and dolls sporting costumes from the film—has become almost as hard to procure as tickets to Taylor Swift's Eras Tour. And every major media platform, from Vogue to The New York Times, has something to say about it all. Barbie is Camp; Barbie is Womanhood in Modern America; Barbie is a much-needed dose of heartfelt fun—and whether you're a fan or not, there's no denying that Barbie Mania is the moment, and it's bringing its signature shade in tow.

As a lifelong wearer of the color pink, I'm thrilled by this opportunity to exercise more of my closet (see right, in Derek Lam 10 Crosby). And while I may not be able to bring my favorite looks to Barbie Land (rollerblades were never really my thing), there are plenty of Indagare-approved hotels awash in fuchsia, bubblegum, flamingo and ballet slipper, where one can live out her Barbie fantasies. Offering signature cocktails, sparkling pools lined with sunbeds, serene spas, and access to prime shopping, dining and touring, these 19 properties are the perfect place for a glamorous getaway from the trials of the Real World (and, as in Barbie Land, many of them were dreamed up or inspired by women). I've also enlisted the help of our partners at Mytheresa to curate a collection of on-theme outfits, which double as inspiration for any Barbie Parties you may have on your calendar. So pack up your paisley palazzo pants and come along for the ride, as we take a trip from the shimmering skyscrapers of New York City to the pastel promenades of Los Angeles, and beyond!

Contact us to inquire about booking a stay at any of these Barbie Pink hotels—and explore our exclusive Indagare x Mytheresa packing edits for beach, city, safari and more. For personalized style services, we are delighted to offer access to Mytheresa's VIP Personal Shopping Program. Email myindagare@mytheresa.com to get started.

Hotel Barrière Fouquet's New York | New York

As our friend Lizzo reminds us on the Barbie soundtrack—Pink goes with everything! And that includes the cobblestoned streets of Tribeca, where the first New York outpost of the Parisian Fouquet’s brand arrived in September 2022. With candy stripes of pink, and mint, lavender and creme accents, Hotel Barrière Fouquet's is a refined urban paradise—especially thanks to the unveiling of a new rooftop garden space designed by Martin Brudnizki, Le Vaux (open for guests and Fouquet's members only). In addition to the 97 guest rooms and suites (including six terrace suites with river views), the property contains a spa and fitness center, a cinema and three dining concepts—the signature Brasserie Fouquet's, a terrace café and the Art-Deco Titsou cocktail bar. Très chic, Barbie! Contact us to inquire about Hotel Barrière Fouquet's New York.

The Whitby Hotel | New York

An enclave of whimsy and eclecticism—a rare find in Midtown Manhattan—this boutique property from Firmdale Hotels' owner and creative director Kit Kemp is plush with feminine imagination. The 86 rooms and suites all have floor-to-ceiling windows and playfully printed headboards (a Kit Kemp calling card), and many also have private terraces, but for the ultimate getaway, book the Penthouse Suite (pictured above), which occupies the entire top floor, with two king size bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a living room larger than many Manhattanites' apartments, a guest powder room, a kitchen and two terraces with sweeping views. If you choose to leave, enjoy the perks of the Fifth Avenue location: proximity to leading galleries and museums, high-end department stores and Central Park. Read the Indagare review and book online here or contact us to inquire about The Whitby Hotel.

Riggs Washington DC | Washington, D.C.

In Washington D.C.'s Penn Quarter, politically active Barbies should not miss the stately yet quirky Riggs hotel. Housed within a former bank, the property combines Romanesque Revival architecture with modern décor like marbled wallpaper, an eye-catching floral sculpture on the ground floor and a bright color palette in the 181 rooms (including bubblegum and rose hues in the Ida McKinley Suite, named for the 25th First Lady of the United States). If nothing else, don your pinks and come for an aperitif at the Café Riggs, where soaring Corinthian columns, a long marble bar and swanky patrons practically require the ordering of Champagne and oysters. Contact us to inquire about Riggs Washington DC.

The Goodtime Hotel | Miami Beach, Florida

Irresistibly playful, The Goodtime is the first property to come out of the new lifestyle hotel brand from Groot Hospitality’s David Grutman and musician Pharrell Williams. Opened in April 2021 and occupying nearly 100,000 square feet between 6th and 7th street in South Beach, the property is awash in color and tropical exuberance, to create an environment that promotes “equal parts happy pursuits and relaxed escapism”—or nothing short of a trip to Barbie Land. The Goodtime's look was masterminded by a powerhouse trio, architect Morris Adjmi, designer Ken Fulk and landscape architect Raymond Jungles. Every detail begs to be photographed—from the dreamy restaurant and pool club Strawberry Moon, which is meant to evoke vintage Havana or Acapulco, to the pink rotary dial phones and leopard-clad benches in each room. Happy, indeed! Contact us to inquire about The Goodtime Hotel.

The Colony Hotel | Palm Beach, Florida

The Colony Hotel's most notable assets are its playful, pretty-in-pink lobby (with tropical de Gournay wallpaper) and Swifty’s, the see-and-be-seen poolside restaurant and bar, which offers an exceptional menu below the shade of scalloped umbrellas. From here, guests can also easily stroll to Worth Avenue, the beach and Indagare’s favorite Palm Beach restaurants. For those who prefer to explore in high heels, there may not be a self-driving Corvette (yet!), but a pink golf cart and beach cruisers are available to borrow. Read the Indagare review and book online here or contact us to inquire about The Colony Hotel.

The Beverly Hills Hotel | Beverly Hills, California

Since 1912, this iconic “Pink Palace” has been a hot spot for Hollywood's most glamorous patrons—from the iconic entryway to the palm-and-pink-cabana-lined pool and power booths of the famed Polo Lounge. The property has 210 rooms, as well as 23 recently redone freestanding bungalows, complete with their own private gardens. For exhausted Real World Barbies in need of some pampering, the spa (which was renovated by Alexandra Champalimaud in 2019) offers such treatments as the UMA Oil Hair and Scalp Treatment, the Pink Himalayan Salt Stone Massage and the Diamond Life Infusion Lifting Facial—as well as a 24-hour fitness center and a nail suite. The hotel is also one of the few places in Hollywood fairly free of paparazzi, so privacy-loving Barbies can feel at ease. Downtown L.A. Proper Hotel | Los Angeles, California

A gem within the stylish Proper Hospitality portfolio (which also hosts locations in Santa Monica, Austin and San Francisco), the Downtown L.A. Proper opened in October 2021 in a 1920s California Renaissance Revival landmark building reimagined by AD100 designer darling Kelly Wearstler. The address on South Broadway—which provides access to an up-and-coming area of downtown adjacent to the Fashion District—was formerly a swanky members-only club, and then a YWCA; today, Wearstler’s vision for the next chapter pays homage to the past while creating a compellingly eclectic, cozy-meets-chic enclave for local creatives. Barbie-approved property highlights include the bright pink lobby mural by local artist Abel Macias and the 2,777-square-foot Proper Pool Suite, a sprawling one-bedroom with an open kitchen and its own private, full-sized indoor pool. Read the Indagare review and book online here or contact us to inquire about Downtown L.A. Proper Hotel.

The Royal Hawaiian, a Luxury Collection Resort, Waikiki | Oahu, Hawaii

Known as the “Pink Palace of the Pacific,” the Royal Hawaiian opened on the sought-after Waikiki Beach in 1927—and while it has evolved to keep up with contemporary tastes, it has maintained its historic allure over the decades (it was once a favorite escape of Hawaiian royalty and celebrities in the 1920s and 30s, before it hosted the U.S. Navy during World War II). In addition to its ocean access and multiple pool options, one of the property's major highlights is the Mai Tai Bar, which overlooks Diamond Head at sunset. What to order? The signature Pink Mai Tai, of course! Read the Indagare review and book online here or contact us to inquire about The Royal Hawaiian.

Hacienda de San Antonio | Colima, Mexico

Set on a on 5,600-acre estate that was once a coffee plantation, in a valley near the town of Colima, Hacienda de San Antonio is a striking peach-pink ranch that was rescued from a state of neglect by billionaire Sir James Goldsmith in the 1970s. The sister property to the equally colorful Cuixmala, the hacienda features interiors by Goldsmith's daughter Alix Marcaccini. In traditional style, the building surrounds an inner courtyard garden, with public areas including a cozy library, grand salon and dining room, and a chapel—while the 25 bedrooms face out towards a nearby volcano, or down to the gardens, pool and tennis courts. Adventure-minded Barbies will revel in the plethora of activities available here, from hot-air ballooning, skydiving, ATV touring, hiking and horseback riding to exploring the property's organic farm (which fuels the kitchen) and working coffee factory. Read the Indagare review and book online here or contact us to inquire about Hacienda de San Antonio.

Airelles Château de Versailles, Le Grand Contrôle | Versailles, France

Writes Indagare founder Melissa Biggs Bradley: "Six years and many millions of dollars in the making, Les Airelles Château de Versailles Le Grand Contrôle was arguably the biggest hotel news of the decade when it opened in 2021. Not for its size. It features only 14 rooms and suites. Nor for its groundbreaking style. It is more of a faithful restoration of an 18th-century building than a style statement. (Its French architects, artisans and designers vetted almost every detail with the historians of Versailles to ensure period accuracy.) The “wow” here is that the hotel is located in an original building on the grounds of Versailles; the hotel makes history by making history immersive." For authentically over-the-top finery, few properties will compare. Stays here are filled with wanders among orange trees and royal portraits, gilt mirrors and Sevres porcelain, slumbers surrounded by Pierre Frey fabrics printed with archival patterns and long soaks in claw-footed tubs, and glasses of Champagne and courses by Alain Ducasse—which are served by staff in period costume, long into the fairy-tale evening. Read the Indagare review and book online here or contact us to inquire about Airelles Château de Versailles.

Claridge's | London, England

Writes Indagare contributor Elena Bowes: "Claridge’s has arguably been London’s top hotel since 1860, when Queen Victoria visited the property. In all the years since, it has remained popular with kings, prime ministers, presidents, captains of industry, society figures, movie stars and anyone else with the substantial wherewithal needed to check in. Today the Mayfair landmark artfully combines history, Art-Deco charm, top-notch service, a health club and a spa, all under one opulent roof. Have a glass of Champagne at the bar and enjoy the few modern touches, such as Dale Chihuly’s fantastical light sculpture in the foyer and the sleek Reading Room by designer Thierry Despont, and you’ll see why the hotel has its loyal fans. Rooms and suites come in a variety of styles, ranging from traditional English to Art-Deco to the signature suites conceived by designers, including David Linley and Diane von Furstenberg. If you want to live large and see and be seen in the heart of Mayfair, Claridge’s is the place to do it." Read the Indagare review and book online here or contact us to inquire about Claridge's.

Ballyfin Demesne | County Laois, Ireland

A scenic 90-minute drive from central Dublin, Ballyfin Demesne is a historic estate where the best of Irish hospitality and countryside grandeur meet. From the clean lines of the 19th-century Neoclassical stone mansion to the smiles and stories of the wonderful staff—many of whom have been at the property for years—every detail has been considered, while preserving warmth and intimacy. The inviting library, drawing room and dining room are filled with art, antiques and books, and guests gather around the fireplaces. Sitting on 614 acres of kelly-green pastures and woodlands, with a lake, follies, wildflowers and eight acres of walled gardens, Ballyfin is rich in both beauty and personality, evoking visions of balls, teatime rendezvous and lively hunts. The 20 mansion rooms and Gardener’s Cottage are all one-of-a-kind masterpieces with unique details, from 17th-century Flemish tapestries to gilded fourposter bed frames—but the Trellis room (pictured above), with its specially commissioned wall paintings by Lucinda Oakes, is particularly suited for Barbies with refined taste. Le Sirenuse | Positano, Italy

Writes Indagare's Simone Girner: "Built into the hillside of the pastel-colored fantasy that is Positano, Le Sirenuse is one of Italy’s most iconic hotels: it embodies this location so perfectly that one without the other is unimaginable. Founded as an albergo in the early 1950s, the 58-suite hotel has been run by the Sersale family for over six decades and exudes the intimacy of a glorious Italian home. Every corner is exquisite (museum-worthy antiques; lemon-tree-planted terraces; bougainvillea-clad dining room), but what sets it apart is the way the creative Sersales (now the third generation is involved in running the hotel) keep innovating. As John Steinbeck, one of Positano’s original fans, once wrote: 'It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you’re there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone.'" In other words—the closest we'll get to Barbie Land, in the Real World. Read the Indagare review and book online here or contact us to inquire about Le Sirenuse.

Hotel de Russie, A Rocco Forte Hotel | Rome, Italy

Writes Indagare's Simone Girner: "Inside a 19th-century palazzo, Hotel de Russie is one of the Eternal City’s most stylish and well-located properties: it’s just a short stroll from the Piazza del Popolo, the Spanish Steps and Villa Borghese, and within walking distance of most of the city’s major sites, as well as top restaurants and shops on Via Condotti and beyond. Guests love Olga Polizzi and Tommaso Ziffer’s bold design throughout, with fresh luxe Italian velvets and silks, soothing tones with touches of color, vintage chairs and photos of Roman monuments referencing the past in all the right places. In the 120 rooms, floor-to-ceiling windows bring in the light and some suites open out onto terraces with views of Roman rooftops. And when you feel like escaping the crowds, seek sanctuary on the terrace or at the indoor saltwater hydro pool, or head to the Stravinskij Bar for a Spritz. A luncheon or aperitivo table for two at the peach-pink-walled Le Jardin de Russie restaurant, overlooking the property’s leafy secret garden, is also a must." El Fenn | Marrakech, Morocco

Writes Indagare founder Melissa Biggs Bradley: "Seriously hip and fun, this riad in the medina is owned by Richard Branson’s sister Vanessa. It’s filled with contemporary art from her sensational collection, including works by Bridget Riley and Fred Pollock, and sits a mere five-minute walk from the Jemaa el-Fnaa. The artistic touch continues in interior details—silver buckets bursting with yellow roses, tables covered in swaths of silk and walls painted in cherry, pomegranate and sage. The overall effect is impeccably tasteful yet full of character. You can email by the pool, while tortoises munch in the garden, or enjoy the hammam or the library. The 31 rooms are spacious with big beds, deep baths and wood fires." All of the accommodations are colorful, and there are several pink options, in varying degrees of vibrance.
