New York’s French food revival continues apace with this Provençal eatery located down the street from Washington Square Park, the newest venture from restaurateur Carlos Suarez (Rosemary’s, Bobo). Named after the 91-year-old woman whose restaurant in Vaucluse inspired the cuisine, the West Village spot’s menu includes not only classics from the South of France like ratatouille and a bouillabaisse en croute, but also North African–inspired dishes such as chicken tagine with harissa, spring peas dressed with a ras el hanout vinaigrette and a stellar lamb salad. You’ll likely be dining alongside stylish locals in the elegant farmhouse space, featuring barnwood floors and blue-and-white tiles. Be sure to do as the French do and order a glass of rosé off the excellent wine list.
