This beloved independent bookstore opened in 2009 and quickly turned into a Brooklyn institution. The selection is excellent, and the staffers are passionate readers who steer you to your next find based on the last book you truly loved. Notable sections include: a terrific assortment of titles about New York City; a beautiful selection of cookbooks, including many from nearby restaurants like Franny’s; and a fabulous kid’s corner.

The support of local authors has been unshakable since the beginning and there are always notable readings, having included authors like Jhumpa Lahiri, Jennifer Egan, Nathan Englander and Colson Whitehead. It’s in easy walking distance to the Brooklyn Academy of Music and Barclays Center.
