Review
This beachside hotel has a loyal following, thanks in large part to the passionate involvement of its Australian owners. Based in Colorado, they are often at the Tulum property, mingling with guests at the hotel’s famous Sunday evening Salsa party. This event draws locals and guests from neighboring properties thanks to a live band and a jam-packed, open-air dance floor just beside the ocean. When you need a break from dancing, try the hotel’s famous mojitos, with fresh-squeezed sugar cane juice from the built-in antique mill on the bar.
La Zebra’s staff is incredibly warm, and friendly, always willing to help. There are a few rooms at this charming property that are perfect for families who don’t mind the Sunday party noise, but book early. The Owners Suite has two bedrooms and overlooks the ocean, but is upstairs from the restaurant, so do not expect to get to bed early on Sunday evening when the Salsa Band is playing. There is also a 2nd floor apartment set back from the beach with a large open-plan room with two beds for small children and a kitchenette.
The Master Suite is the closest cabana to the beach on the property and comes with a King bed, an outdoor bathtub and a living room overlooking the ocean. And the Beach Shack is more like a private house, as it’s located besides the hotel and has two separate floors. The top floor has a small room but comes with a private large deck, lounge chairs, and an outdoor tub.
Who Should Stay
Couples or families, who love Le Zebra's family-sized suites as well as its small playground.
