New Orleans

Like many historic cities that have experienced growth throughout centuries, the Crescent City developed organically. Though it started in a centralized and geographically important setting on an elevated parcel of land in a bend of the Mississippi River, over time the metropolis expanded in all directions. As a result, New Orleans feels less like a coherent city and more like a conglomerate of multiple hamlets merging to form a vivacious place that is greater than the sum of its parts. Shopping options reflect the Big Easy’s varied personalities. In one afternoon, intrepid visitors can explore funky vintage wares in the bohemian Marigny, gleaming antiques and silver in the French Quarter, uber-cool contemporary art in the Warehouse District and home décor in the Garden District that could give New York’s D&D Building a run for its money.
