The Mudhouse, Turquoise Mountain Foundation

See Website

In Riyadh, Indagare can arrange a visit to the Mudhouse, the home of the Turquoise Mountain Foundation in Saudi Arabia. Established in 2006 by His Majesty King Charles III, Turquoise Mountain works in Afghanistan, Myanmar, Saudi Arabia and Jordan to protect the heritage and traditions of at-risk communities, specifically by restoring historic buildings and providing jobs and education to help revive artisan industries. In partnership with the Saudi Handicrafts Program at the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage, the Saudi branch of Turquoise Mountain works to give hundreds of the Kingdom’s local artisans access to new markets and commercial opportunities, while preserving valuable craft traditions. In addition to learning more about these initiatives, at the Mudhouse, visitors can observe local artisans at work and shop traditional crafts and art in the showroom.
