Siurana

A tiny medieval village overlooking Priorat’s primary reservoir, Siurana evokes the same timeless feel as one might find in the hilltop villages in Tuscany. The narrow streets are dotted with flowers and lined with classic arched wooden doors and greenery along the walls. But aside from the  charming streets, the real draw of Siurana is the view: to one side is the reservoir and dam with ripples of hills and mountains behind it and to the other is an imposing cliff wall (where you may spot a few climbers). The best way to enjoy Siurana is to wander and seek out every viewing point available, whether it be on the roof or terrace of the refugi, up atop the rock platform behind the village or out on one of the ledges that stretches past the small church. Though Siurana is a part of many hikes in the region, it is also accessible by car—a ride that will have no shortage of views or switchbacks. The parking lot is located an easy ten minute walk from the village and costs three euros.
