Hiking Montsant Natural Park

Travelers cannot venture to Priorat without coming face to face with the dramatic landscape, specifically the imposing cliffs of Montsant Natural Park (which may remind some travelers of a landlocked version of the Cliffs of Insanity from The Princess Bride). There are numerous options for hikes in the park, the most convenient beginning only a fifteen-minute drive from Gran Hotel Mas d’en Bruno, while others may begin up to an hour away. Hikes can range from one to four hours in length and span all levels of ability—though it is important to note that even the moderate hikes may require hikers to lower themselves down some steeper sections of rock and sidle along narrow pathways. The scenery is sprawling and varied, as is the topography of the hikes, with many longer treks including a longer flat section in the middle on the hilly landscape that crowns the cliff walls.
