Located in the heart of Skagen, the Skagens Museum showcases an extensive collection of works from the late 19th Century and early 20th Century group of artists who lived in the area known as the Skagen Painters. Founded in 1908 in the dining room at nearby Brøndums Hotel, the original wood-paneled room is on display at the museum. The collection includes over 1,800 works and the museum hosts a rotation of special exhibits. There is a café in the Garden House, which served as a residence and studio for artists Anna and Michael Ancher (see their other home at Anchers Hus).
