Shopping in Galle

Locals consider the Galle Fort's boutiques overpriced and overly aimed to tourists (which they are), but considering the dearth of great shopping in Sri Lanka, this is one of the few places that has a small concentration of gifts and mementos to take home. Some shops that stand out: Mimimango (63 Pedlar St; 94-91-2-242702) for boho-chic kaftans and sarongs; Tallentire House (63 Pedlar St; 94-77-432-7360) for nature-inspired, printed textiles (block-printed in India, not in Sri Lanka, however); Stick No Bills (35 Church St; 94-91-2-242504), a gallery with bright new editions of vintage Sri Lankan postcards; and The Withered Leaf (Old Dutch Hospital; 94-77-225-0621), a lovely place for stocking up on teas in beautiful packaging.
