Located off the coast of Queensland, this tropical paradise attracts visitors with its brilliant blue waters, powder-sand beaches and marine life. Few destinations can compete with the beauty and magnitude of this underwater jungle: it is the largest coral reef on the planet and one of the seven Natural Wonders of the World. With large sections of the reef dying rapidly, time is running out to see this magical place in its lifetime.

3 Days: Essential Great Barrier Reef
Make the most of your stay at the Great Barrier Reef with a customized Indagare itinerary that includes watersports classes and guided touring of the area’s natural wonders. Here is just one example of what our destination experts can create for you.
Day One
The Great Barrier Reef extends more than 100 square miles and is filled with over 3,000 coral reefs and hundreds of postcard-perfect islands. As the area is known to offer some of the world’s best diving and snorkeling, the perfect way to experience the reef is through a guided tour by water. Your captain can take you in a private boat to the best coves for snorkeling, where you can observe the fish and coral before returning on board for dinner and drinks as the sun sets over the water.
Day Two
Spend your day exploring the landscapes of the Great Barrier Reef with a guided tour of some of its most fascinating islands, like the Whitsunday Islands with their lush rainforests and the vibrant, chic shopping hub of Hamilton Island. You can explore these islands by ferry before settling in at the Hamilton Beach Club for a fun night of drinks and dancing.
Day Three
Start your morning with a relaxing hot stone massage with 300 million-year-old rocks from the reef area at your hotel spa, then make your way to see the gorgeous swirling sandbars at Whitehaven Beach, which is known to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. In the afternoon, you can choose from such activities as a watersports lesson, a helicopter ride around the reef for breathtaking views or a tour of the reef research programs at Lizard Island, before enjoying a final delicious dinner at an Indagare-recommended restaurant.
Where To Stay
We only feature hotels that we can vouch for first-hand. At many of them, Indagare members receive special amenities, including upgrades, early check-in, breakfast, spa credits and more. Look for the Indagare Plus logo in the reviews.
