Itinerary Highlights
Wandering around Reykjavik, visiting the Thrihnukagigur volcano, soaking in the Blue Lagoon, touring the Golden Circle with geysers, waterfalls and a national park, glacier walks, black sand beaches, heli-skiing
Days 1-2: Reykjavik
Spend a day exploring the city’s charming downtown, which is compact and easily navigated on foot with visits to the National Museum and the Hallgrímskirkja church. Also, don’t miss the dormant Thrihnukagigur volcano, which has has recently been made accessible to adventurous thrill seekers, and the famous Blue Lagoon, where you can relax and rejuvenate in the warm, turquoise blue geothermal baths.
Days 3-5: Golden Circle
The driving circuit along Iceland’s southwest coast is known as the Golden Circle and covers the “best of ” list of Icelandic attractions. You can hike through Thingvellir National Park, visit Gullfoss waterfall (one of the largest falls in Europe) and stop off in the valley of Haukadalur, where you can see active geysers.
Day 6-9: Deplar Farm
