Chances are you can find it at this kitschy yet popular beer shop near the Grand Palace—and you can purchase a bottle or can to bring home. The shop sells hundreds of beers, as well as mugs, pint glasses and chalices from all the different Belgian breweries. One of our favorite Vogue editors turned us on to this cult Belgian handbag brand, Delvaux, the world’s oldest purveyor of fine leather goods, predating Hermes by eight years. On display is, of course, the iconic Brilliant bag, introduced by Charles Delvaux at the 1958 World’s Fair, as well as the entire family of signature bags in all different colors and sizes and an array of accessories. Don’t let the steep price tags deter you from visiting the exquisite Boulevard de Waterloo flagship store. The design of the building itself is a marvel, seamlessly blending modernity and old-world charm, evoking the timeless allure of these classics.

Els Vansteelandt is a goldsmith and silversmith designing jewelry and art. Her work can be seen in galleries and museums across Europe, in addition to her showroom in Brussels. Her work includes brooches, rings, silverware, earrings and more.

This Belgian handbag brand was started in 2017 by two working women, who were frustrated by trying to find a stylish way to carry their computers and essentials for work and life—so they made their own. Today, Kaai’s collections also include fashionable totes, crossbody bags, smartphone pouches, vegan styles and even “Mom” and work bags for him—all at their flagship store in the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert, one of Europe’s oldest and most beautiful shopping arcades.

This sweet Belgian institution dates back to 1829 and since then has set the city standard for biscuits. They are so obsessed with butter cookies, in fact, that they have a house manifesto: “At Maison Dandoy, we believe that biscuits can help build a better world. More durable and cheerful. We are working on this transition every day, smile by smile, biscuit by biscuit.” The most traditional one to buy is the Speculoos, which is made as it was by the founding family member, but newer additions include giant cookies, gingerbreads, marzipans and madeleines. There are 10 shops throughout Brussels, with the oldest one aptly located on Rue au Beurre.

Since 1873, the flea market at Place du Jeu Balle has sold vintage furniture and photographs, second-hand clothing, tchotchkes, and crafts. The market is open daily, and while there are no food vendors here, the surrounding square is full of dining options.

Belgian illustrator and world traveler Roseline D’Oreye paints with a surrealist touch and an exuberant love for color and exploration to her silk scarves and other accessories. Printed on fine Italian silk, the scarves, of differing sizes, can be worn to brighten up a uniform or add flair as a head scarf. She also hand-paints leather purses. This is Brussels’s famous gallery of chocolate, and it is the ideal place to satisfy all chocolate souvenir needs for yourself, friends and family, especially on a time crunch. Even travelers who would prefer to hit different standalone chocolate shops for their souvenirs will likely find it's worth walking through the Royal Galleries just to see how seriously chocolate is taken in Belgium.

Since the 1960s, antiques dealers have been setting up their tents on Saturdays and Sundays on one of Brussels’ prettiest squares Place du Grand Sablon. Come and browse the wares of dealers in vintage clothing, 1950s furniture and lamps, antique silver, jewelry, medals, porcelain and more. There is a lovely atmosphere for browsing and lots of cafés for lunch nearby.

This beautiful Belgian soap company has been making soaps in the center of Brussels since 1926. The shop in the Royal Galleries sells gorgeous soaps from hand soaps to shampooing bars. Yes, you can buy solid shampoo in soap form. The gift boxes range from a single bath soap at 12.5 euros to a box of three body soaps for 30 euros. Some favorite scents are the black rose, peony and fern. These make for lovely gifts.

STIJL founder Sonja Noël opened her first of two storefronts in the 1980s, with a focus on luxury, curated style, interior design and client support. Today, STIJL still supports emerging designers, giving the store an eclectic feel. Both men’s and women’s clothing is available.
