Roughly the size of Ireland, Sri Lanka hangs like a beautiful pendant on a necklace draped around India, and to explore its many different parts—from beaches to rock temples—requires time and savvy itinerary planning.

Designing Your Journey
Work with Indagare to design the perfect itinerary for an immersive journey. Our travel experts know the destination inside and out, and they can make recommendations based on your travel needs and preferences.
10 Days: Essential Sri Lanka
Don’t try to squeeze everything into a single trip. Travelers should spend at least two if not three nights at each place because getting around is tiring, as is the tropical hot climate. Here is just one example of what our destination experts can create for you.
Days 1-4: Galle & Southern Coast
Get your bearings at this compact city on the southwestern coast. Full of Duch architecture and fabulous ramparts overlooking the Indian Ocean, Galle is an atmospheric spot for arriving in Sri Lanka. Venture beyond, and explore the coast with its palm-fringed beaches, rock temples and incredible bird life. Indagare-arranged activities can include kayaking excursions, yoga classes and a guided visit to a white tea plantation.
Days 5-7: Tea/Hill Country
Charter a sea plane to arrive in Tea Country and check into an exquisite hotel comprised of five restored planter’s bungalows. Excursions in this stunning area include hiking, biking and learning about Ceylon tea with an expert guide.
Days 8-10: Cultural Triangle
For those with limited time, the wealth of cultural sites in this region has to be ruthlessly edited. Must-sees are the ancient capital of Anuradhapura and the rock fortress at Sigiriya, one of Sri Lanka’s most photographed site. The mysterious caves at Dambulla, replete with impressive Buddha sculptures are another highlight.
Where To Stay
We only feature hotels that we can vouch for first-hand. At many of them, Indagare members receive special amenities, including upgrades, early check-in, breakfast, spa credits and more. Look for the Indagare Plus logo in the reviews.
