Designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Palacio Nacional de Sintra has a history that stretches back to Moorish rule. Built in the 10th century, the remarkably preserved palace was a favorite of Portuguese royalty and was restored in the 1940’s. Decorated with multicolored Islamic tiles, this is a must-see for history and architecture buffs alike.
