Isolotto Beach Club, Località Le Viste, Strada Provinciale Panoramica, Porto Ercole, Province of Grosseto, Italy
Down a steep, winding forest road on the edge of the Mediterranean Sea is a lovely new beach club opened by the owners of the new hotel La Roqqa. A few white washed buildings dot the property where benches are placed under olive trees and a terrace contains a dozen or so tables under thatch umbrellas. The bar, which thrums with gentle house music, is tended by handsome, tanned Italian men and from the kitchen wafts the smell of wood grill cooking. Sun beds with umbrellas can be reserved on platform decks above the sea. All have views of the Mediterranean, a small island offshore (which inspires the beach club’s name) and the sailboats and yachts drifting in and out of nearby Porto Ercole. The menu focuses on regional fare—fresh salads, prosciutto, and fish—with resort indulgences like oysters, caviar and cocktails. The vibe is laid-back, barefoot, sun-kissed and distinctly Italian.
