The Stonehouse

Jeweler Mish Tworkowski puts it succinctly: “Wonderful food in a heavenly atmosphere. Sit outside; it’s perfectly beautiful.” And so it is. Perhaps it’s the evening stars or the twinkling lights on the trees – which you can appreciate thanks to a roaring fire and heat lamps that permit you to sit outside – but heavenly is an apt word to describe dining at the Stonehouse, the gourmet restaurant at the San Ysidro Ranch. Even when seated inside this converted citrus packing facility, with its impressive stone walls, delivers a seriously romantic mood and superb service. You might order pan seared local abalone with housemade capellini and chanterelle mushrooms, followed by a fennel-touched rack of venison. For dessert, classics like Bananas Foster are flambéed with a flourish by your table. Start your big night out with a drink downstairs at the more casual Plow & Angel.
