Review

Château de La Chèvre d’Or is located 400 meters (1,300 feet) above sea level in the heart of the medieval village of Eze and offers sweeping views of the coast below. The former artist’s retreat turned Relais & Chateau boutique hotel is a village in itself, with 37 rooms spread between a stone castle and other small buildings connected by winding cobblestone paths. The quaint rooms feature exposed-stone walls and beams, fireplaces, sea views and modern amenities, while the infinity pool and terraced gardens are the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring.

Eze itself is a pedestrian-only village, with stone pathways carved into the hillside above Monaco and Nice. The well-preserved, ancient architecture and old-world setting make Eze an ideal retreat from the glitz of the Riviera below. The property’s four restaurants range from a casual garden café to the relaxed but refined Les Remparts, up to the gastronomic two Michelin-starred grand dining room. Les Remparts in particular is a perfect spot for lunch with incredible views of the Côte d’Azur. Château de La Chèvre d’Or is the ideal one-to-two night respite after a glamorous seaside jaunt in Monaco or Nice.
