You know you’re in good hands when the menu references tuna “from our fisherman.” Seafood offerings are abundant on the dinner menu here: yellowfin, crayfish, crab, grouper, sea scallops, shrimp, seabass, sole, to name a few. Service at Francois Plantation is good, but intentionally set at a slower pace. So sit back and don’t fret. The longtime island restaurant, which was fairly destroyed during Irma, has quite good food and is the place for a couple or a special celebration or a group or for foodies, looking for an alternative to Nikki Beach. A large soufflé was brought out to a couple celebrating a birthday with enormous sparkler candles (and an Ed Sheeran song) on a recent visit. The staff seems better trained than at other properties on the island—genial and authentic and experienced in handling people and European resort culture as well. The wine list is extensive and features vintages from the Sibuet family vineyards. Breakfast, equally delicious, is served by the pool and features an array of tasty pastries such as pain perdu and pain au chocolat, with baguettes, eggs served any style (with or without truffles), fresh fruit and probably anything you could dream up.
