Rosa Alpina, an Aman Partner Hotel
Owned and run for three generations by the Pizzinini family, Rosa Alpina is a wonderful year-round luxury European hideaway in the Italian Dolomites.
Those craving a feminine touch should stay at this lovely forty-nine-room hotel, located directly on Cortina’s main street, Corso Italia. Co-owner Flavia Sartor’s passion is antiques, her family’s business since the 18th century, and it shows in such decorations as an intricately carved 16th-century ceiling panel and hand-blown Venetian chandeliers. The Ancora is one of Cortina’s oldest hotels, but its rooms are up-to-date as well as charming. No two are alike: Suite 88 has a king-sized bed built into a hand-painted alcove, and spacious Suite 108/109, on the top floor, has terrific views. Sartor is also as connected as any concierge; if she can’t get you a reservation at a booked-up restaurant, no one can.
