In Tibet, spinning and weaving was mostly the work of farmers who occupied their winters with tasks other than agriculture. They carried Tibet’s weaving and rug making traditions. Nomads only made what they needed in their daily lives, considered coarse and unrefined by the farmers. For this reason, the nomads needed more suited equipment for quality handwork in a small operation.
