Patagonia stretches across southern Argentina and Chile, straddling both sides of the Andes Mountains. And while the Chilean side is beloved for the iconic landscapes of Torres del Paine, Argentina’s Patagonia province is also stunning (and home to the equally as impressive Fitz Roy mountainscape). Visitors to Argentine Patagonia can expect to see spectacular glaciers and deep glacial lakes, as well as wildlife such as condors and puma. A visit here can also be combined with Chile and the Atacama Desert.

Designing Your Journey

Work with Indagare to design the perfect itinerary for an immersive journey. Our travel experts know the destination inside and out, and they can make recommendations based on your travel needs and preferences.

  • 3 Days: Essential Argentine Patagonia-LP

    Essential Argentine Patagonia

The best trips to Patagonia require planning well ahead, as sights and activities are remote and require pre-purchased admission. Here is just one example of what our destination experts can create for you.

    • Day 1

Most visitors to Calafate arrive via Buenos Aires or Bariloche, in Northern Patagonia. If traveling from the Argentinian capital, check if your flight has a short stopovers in Bariloche or Ushuaia. Indagare-recommended lodges are in the countryside beyond Calafate, but be sure to stop in town to see the Glaciarium Museum.

    • Glacier at Perito Moreno Glacier , Argentine Patagonia, Argentina

      Day 2

This morning, ask your lodge to pack a picnic lunch and join an Indagare-recommended guide for a visit to the Perito Moreno glacier. Excursions include mini-trekking on the glacier or a full-day ice climb. Then, enjoy lunch by the glacier then explore the catwalks down the opposite face. Return to your lodge for dinner.

    • Day 3

Depart your lodge early to board a boat to a remote ranch reachable only by water. You’ll cruise through broken pieces of glaciers and see the vast Upsala glacier along the way. Upon arrival, choose from a variety of activities, including horseback riding, four-wheel excursions, hiking and fishing. Return via boat for dinner at your lodge.

“The highlight of our trip was being on a mountain ridge above our hotel and looking out toward glaciers, mountains and Monte Fitz Roy. It was so beautiful and awe-inspiring!”

"I was blown away by Patagonia’s bright blue lakes, pristine valleys and dramatic craggy mountains–yet what stayed with me after the fact was not the picturesque topography, but rather the vast, weird and wonderful emptiness of the landscape.”
