2. Tennessee; Blackberry Mountain

The sister property to the acclaimed Blackberry Farm hotel, Blackberry Mountain is a smaller, more health-focused property with cozy, stylish rooms and villas, a great culinary program and a daily schedule of excellent fitness classes. Opened in 2019, Blackberry Mountain is ideal for couples looking for a quiet weekend away, families who want an adventure-focused trip but seriously pampering accommodations and anyone who wants a wellness-focused property that doesn’t feel at all restrictive. The fall is a great time to visit, as all the activities (rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, fly fishing and more) are offered but the temperature isn't too hot.

Families who want to be within walking distance to town should opt for the luxurious White Elephant, while couples should retreat to the atmospheric Greydon House, which boats exquisite nautical décor and an acclaimed restaurant. Both resorts are elegant bases from which to enjoy fall weekend festivals (the Cranberry Festival over Columbus Day Weekend is particularly fun) and days spent picking fresh produce or sampling seasonal ales at island institutions like Bartletts Farm and Cisco Brewers, respectively.
