Escape: People: Magical Fiji

Magical Fiji

Indagare member C.B. traveled to Laucala, Fiji, for five activity-filled days in the sunshine with a group. Here are her impressions of the trip and suggestions for next time.

It is hard to find appropriate words for this trip as “perfection” is an understatement and “epic” is not even close… It was seriously off the charts!

Each and every moment was magical and it was a true privilege to spend five days and nights in such a special place. To be overwhelmed and speechless around each and every corner is an achievement but they did it. The accommodation, the food, the staff and their desire to make our experience memorable was amazing. The natural beauty of the place is impossible to describe and the weather was sublime.

Very little sleeping happened as we were all too busy doing activities and indulging in all the island had to offer. The most difficult part of the day was deciding what to do first: water sports, golf, tennis, diving, visiting the spa, eating, drinking, dancing, etc.

I highly recommend staying in Villa 18 (a 3-bedroom) if taking over the entire section of the resort as it provides privacy (your own beach) and its scale makes it feel like a true residence. Everyone was overwhelmed by the size and scale of each villa whether a 1- or 3-bedroom. While we actually stayed in Villa 20 (a 2-bedroom) the staff accommodated our lunch request one day and we hosted the meal at Villa 18 for a nice change. While it was a huge effort on their part, all was seamless and beyond delicious. They even installed speakers and provided docking stations wherever we went, a monumental effort to ensure our happiness.

The only change we made on our trip was switching dinner from the Plantation on the last night to a Fijian restaurant at Seagrass Lounge and Restaurant (in the Laucala Resort). We loved having a traditional Fijian dinner after the Kava ceremony and dancing.

The trip worked out beautifully and we look forward to our next visit!
